Louis "PJ" Patierno, Jr., CFP®, ChFC®
PJ earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) degree from Texas A&M University in 1988. He worked his way through school and also started two small companies while in college. He began his financial career in southern California while working for a company that structured financing for large capital equipment acquisitions.
PJ then moved back to Houston, Texas and entered the financial services industry in 1990. In 1998, PJ and his family moved his practice to Denver, Colorado. After working with a firm that specialized in the unique needs of athletes and entertainers, PJ started his own firm in 2000. PJ is the Founder and President of Peak Planning Group, LLC, an independent Registered Investment Advisor who has their primary offices in Denver, Colorado. They also supervise an office of Peak Planning Group, LLC that is based in Hilo, Hawaii.
Besides being the principal of the SEC registered investment advisory firm Peak Planning Group, LLC, PJ currently holds the Group I insurance license and a variable insurance license. PJ holds the Series 6, 7, 51, 24 and he is a Municipal Securities Limited Principal, General Securities Principal and a Texas Investment Advisor Representative. He holds the CFP® (Certified Financial Planner), the ChFC® (Chartered Financial Counselor) and the LUTCF™ (Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow) designations.
PJ has three sons who attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. His oldest, Cutler, is an architect in New York city. Jordan works for a neurosurgeon in Denver as he is preparing to go to medical school. Parker is finishing his studies in pursuit of a business degree specializing in entrepreneurship. In his personal life, PJ enjoys traveling, exercising, skiing, tennis, sailing, biking, car racing, and charitable work.
He is on the Board of Climbing for Kids. For over 15 years, this charity sponsors a climb of a Colorado 14’er to benefit Autism and Pediatric Mental health thru Children’s Hospital.
Spencer Wynant, CFP®
Spencer graduated from the University of Kansas with an accounting degree in 2008 and completed his Master of Accounting in 2009. He moved to Colorado in 2011 and joined a large trust company in Denver working as a Portfolio Manager whose responsibilities included asset management, financial planning, and performance reporting. Spencer then joined Peak Planning Group in 2014 as an advisor and has been a partner in the firm since 2020. Spencer is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Spencer lives in Asheville, North Carolina with his wife Eleanor, their daughter Julia, and their dog Wiggins. They enjoy spending their time outdoors and like taking their teardrop camper up to the mountains on weekends for camping trips. He enjoys hiking, playing tennis, skiing, snowshoeing and mountain biking in his spare time.
Carrie is our Client Service Manager and brings over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. She oversees our client onboarding, money movement, account maintenance, and day-to-day office management. Carrie’s favorite part of working at Peak is getting to know our clients on a personal level and taking care of their needs.
Carrie spends time with her family and friends and loves to spend time with her two cockatiels – Butch and Sundance. She also enjoys attending the theater, music events, and spending time in any of the Colorado Mountains.
David L. Hall
David received a full academic scholarship and attended Vanderbilt University. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science (in Organizational Development) degree in 1997. He began his financial services career in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1998. David served in management for a large financial services firm for two years before returning exclusively to his private client practice in 2001.
In 2006, David moved his practice and family to Hilo, Hawaii. There, he added both of his current staff members, Tori and Tessie, to his team. They decided to join the independent registered advisory firm, Peak Planning Group, LLC in 2020. David and Peak’s President, PJ, have known each other for almost 10 years both personally and professionally. For David’s firm, this was an opportunity to gain better access to technology, planning expertise and business efficiencies to better serve his clients. David and his team pride themselves on solving problems for their clients - a philosophy shared by PJ and his team as well.
David and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons and one daughter. They have active professional and family lives filled with kids’ activities, soccer, tennis, golf, and travel.
Tori (Ke’o) Almarza
Tori (Ke’o) is our Client Relations Manager. She has over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry and in working with clients. She enjoys answering clients’ questions, gaining your trust while always striving to communicate in a timely and effective manner. Our clients appreciate her communications, and this adds to their confidence and relationship with our firm.
In her personal time, she is a single parent to a daughter, a foster son, and a surrogate Mother to many. Raising children is a blessing that helps her to be the best at what she does at work. Organizing her time between work, school, sports, meetings, tutoring, counseling, and meals daily helps her with time management and being efficient at work.
Tori understands that most of our clients have very busy lives also and she takes pride in adding ease, confidence, and efficiency to their interactions with our firm and their needs.
Tessie has been our receptionist and director of first impressions for over 14 years. She strives to provide excellent customer service and to ensure the best interest of our clients is paramount.
In her personal time, Tessie’s passions include reading, exercise, traveling and she also has a serious love for food and trying new things in her life.
